Frantic Fall Fun

Hello everyone! It took me a little while, but I finally figured out how to post on our individual family page.  I wanted to entitle our first post "Frantic Fall Fun" because October and November definitely bring on the busy season for us.  It seems the next couple of months bring on a laundry list of activities and weekend outings.  Nickey is really busy with school, and his grades are awesome!  He's been awarded two scholarships, and I am so proud of all that he has accomplished in such a short time period.  He starts his clinicals in a few weeks, and I know he has that nervous excitement of starting something new and scary and fun--all at the same time!  You should see him all decked out in scrubs and surgical gear!  Who knew I would have a thing for men in uniforms?!
My work and school is also crazy.  I am serving on our school's Leadership Team this year, which should be an honor, I guess, but the duties require extra meetings and "assignments"--unpaid!  I did recently win a Bright Ideas grant for my film class, which is an extra $1700 that I get to spend on technology.  Aside from that, training for the half marathon that Shaun and I are doing in November seems to take all of my extra time.  The training is more time consuming than I remembered for the last one, and spending 2 hours running on Saturdays just to prepare is becoming an annoying burden.  I will be proud, but also extremely relieved when the race is over!
Griffin's after-school schedule is probably the most demanding.  He has cub scouts three nights a month--not counting the outings, and he starts piano lessons this week.  We plan on attending the Haunted Trails Parent-n-Pal campout in Sylvania in a couple of weeks, and he is beside himself with anticipation.  I hope it doesn't disappoint!  With Halloween around the corner, we have the cub scouts trunk-or-treat night, and we will be celebrating Griffin's 7th birthday Halloween-style.  He's having a friend spend the night, and we are going on hearse ghost tour downtown.  We also plan to eat at Moon River Brewery in hopes that Griffin's birthday will land us a sneak peek in the second floor where Ghost Adventures (on Travel Channel) did a lock down and ghost hunt.  I can't wait to post pictures and fill you in on how that turns out.
